YOU GO ON is a new musical following the life of Tyler, a 15 year old high school student, as he and his community deal with a shooting that happened at their high school three months prior to the beginning of the musical. Throughout the show, Tyler sees how the shooting has affected his mental state and personal relationships as he watches his innocence slip out from under him.

On April 14th, 2019 the show had its first staged reading for an audience. Directed by SMJ and Stage Managed by Lindsay Lisanti, I got to work with a wonderful 14 person cast to help tell a story of friendship, loss, and unity in the face of trauma.

Later that month, the score was recorded by the original cast and can be found on my Soundcloud (link found next to my social media icons below). Since the reading, new songs have been added to the show and demos for new songs can be accessed upon request.

On January 20th, 2024 YOU GO ON will have it’s next reading with the Cincinnati Black Theater Company in Cincinnati Ohio, with the enormous help and support of Executive Director Don Sherman and Acting Chair Jackie Jackson.

Extra Plugs ;)

Trevin Dutey performed a cut of one of the songs- “Happiness” during Otterbein’s “Senior Launch” benefit. This song follows our main character, Tyler, as he discovers how his life has changed in the aftermath of a school shooting. Huge thanks to Trevin and Otterbein’s Department of Theater and Dance.
